TAEUBER-ARP
Sophie
Taeuber-Arp (1889-1943) was one of the most important geometric
abstractionists of the last century and the only woman currently
depicted on a Swiss banknote. Our selection of images below focusses on
Taeuber-Arp's work as a painter, but she was also a sculptor,
designer and performer and was
closely involved in many Dada projects in Zurich. Taeuber-Arp died of
carbon monoxide poisoning a few days before her 54th birthday.
Other artists who died in 1943
and whose work is now out of artistic copyright include Camille Claudel,
Maurice Denis
and Chaïm Soutine.
You
